No evidence for ethnic discrimination in the nonprofit sector: an audit study of access to nursing homes

Abstract

This study investigates discrimination within the nonprofit sector, focusing on long-term care facilities for the elderly in Flanders, Belgium. It found no evidence of ethnic discrimination, possibly due to the sector’s stronger social mission and absence of profit motives. The research contributes to the understanding of how institutional features of the nonprofit sector could reduce discrimination and ensure equal access to public services.
